F.A.Q

Q: How high are you up there in Pai?
A: Everybody is quite high up here but the altitude of Cafe Del Doi is compared with Bangkok 525m.The highest point around here is over 1000m (3000 feet)

Q: How do I get there?
A: Click here!

Q: Mosquito\'s?
A: Sure, like everywhere in Asia, but they are not too bad. Wear socks and long trousers and maybe if you into chemicals use some mosquito repellent, our place is malaria and dengue free.

Q: What about the weather, season, climate etc.
A: Maybe you know it all ready but Thailand has 3 seasons, from October till February we have the so-called cold season between when in the daytime it\'s sunny with a temperature of 30c, but it really cools down in the evenings and the nights can be chilly so you need a jumper and a jacket when you\'re riding a motorbike after dark. There can be a temperature difference of 20 to 25. But don\'t forget that Cafe Del Doi is the only floor heated place in Thailand, thanks to the nearby hot spring.

From March till June we have the hot season, and we do mean hot with temperatures up to 45c. Fortunately during those months at Caf? Del Doi we reverse the floor heating system and pump in cold water instead of hot water. This makes our panoramic lounge the coolest place in Pai to hang out in while the temperature soars. Or you can just take your drink to the river and just sit in it and let it all hang out.

July till September is the so-called rainy season where the temperature drops to 35c after the hot season. Don\'t worry, it\'s only water. For example, at 1 o\'clock it rains like you\'ve never seen it before and at Chaingmai Zoo the wardens are thinking about moving the animals into an ark. But at 2 o\'clock everything is back to normal with dry and sunny skies. The sudden contrasts make the rainy season the most passionate one in northern Thailand. At Caf? Del Doi you can sit in your lazy chair overlooking the valley, and see it coming from miles away, that cloud of rain getting closer and closer with the sound of thunder. As the storm cloud approaches the sky gets darker, the sun is fading, we hold hands together, looking at each other with smiles on our faces, but with fear in our hearts. we gather together in small groups, loved ones kissing and hugging, old enemies shaking hands, possessions are collected, children sit on mothers\' laps, the sound of a approaching apocalyptic thunder shower swells on, and just when you think this it, 2 o\'clock arrives and everything is back to normal.
